Steps and Prayers of Umrah (عمرہ کے مراحل اور دعائیں)
Specific prayers are recited at each stage during Umrah. Reciting these prayers adds spirituality to the worship and brings one closer to Allah Almighty.
1. Dua Before Leaving Your Home
English Arabic:
Bismillah, tawakkaltu ‘alallah, wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah
English Translation:
I begin with the Name of Allah; I trust in Allah; there is no altering of conditions but by the Power of Allah.
Arabic:
بِسم الله تَوَكَّلتُ على اللهِ لاَ حول ولا قُوَّة إِلَّا بالله
Urdu Translation:
اللہ کے نام سے نکل رہا ہوں، میرا پورا پورا توکل اللہ ہی پر ہے، تمام طاقت و قوت اللہ ہی کی طرف سے ہے
2. Dua for On Boarding a Vehicle
English Arabic:
Allāhu akbar, Allāhu akbar, Allāhu akbar, subḥāna-l-ladhī sakkhara lanā hādhā wa mā kunnā lahū muqrinīn, wa innā ilā rabbinā la-munqalibūn, Allāhumma innā nas’aluka fī safarinā hādhā-l-birra wa-t-taqwā, wa mina-l-ʿamali mā tarḍā, Allāhumma hawwin ʿalaynā safaranā hādhā wa-ṭ-wi’ ʿannā buʿdah, allāhumma Anta-ṣ-ṣāḥibu fi-s-safar, wa-l-khalīfatu fi-l-ahl, allāhumma innī aʿūdhu bika min waʿthāi-s-safar, wa kaābati-l-manẓar, wa sū’i-l-munqalabi fi-l-māli wa-l-ahl.
English Translation:
Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, O Allah, we seek virtue and piety from Thee in this journey of ours and the act which pleaseth Thee. O Allah, lighten this journey of ours, and make its distance easy for us. O Allah, Thou art (our) companion during the journey, and guardian of (our) family. O Allah, I seek refuge with Thee from hardships of the journey, gloominess of the sights, and finding of evil changes in property and family on return.
Arabic:
اَللهُ أَكْبَرُ ، اَللهُ أَكْبَرُ ، اَللهُ أَكْبَرُ ، سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي سَخَّرَ لَنَا هَذَا وَمَا كُنَّا لَهُ مُقْرِنِينَ وَإِنَّا إِلَى رَبِّنَا لَمُنْقَلِبُونَ اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّا نَسْأَلُكَ فِي سَفَرِنَا هَذَا الْبِرَّ وَالتَّقْوَى وَمِنَ الْعَمَلِ مَا تَرْضَى اللَّهُمَّ هَوِّنْ عَلَيْنَا سَفَرَنَا هَذَا وَاطْوِ عَنَّا بُعْدَهُ اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ الصَّاحِبُ فِي السَّفَرِ وَالْخَلِيفَةُ فِي الأَهْلِ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ وَعْثَاءِ السَّفَرِ وَكَآبَةِ الْمَنْظَرِ وَسُوءِ الْمُنْقَلَبِ فِي الْمَالِ وَالأَهْلِ
Urdu Translation:
اللہ اکبر، اللہ اکبر، اللہ اکبر، اے اللہ، ہم اپنے اس سفر اور اس عمل میں تجھ سے نیکی اور تقویٰ چاہتے ہیں جس سے آپ راضی ہوں۔ اے اللہ ہمارے اس سفر کو ہلکا کر دے اور ہمارے لیے اس کی مسافت آسان فرما۔ اے اللہ تو سفر میں (ہمارا) ساتھی ہے اور (ہمارے) خاندان کا نگہبان ہے۔ اے اللہ میں تیری پناہ مانگتا ہوں سفر کی سختیوں سے، نظروں کی تاریکی سے اور واپسی پر مال اور اہل و عیال میں بری تبدیلیوں سے۔
3. Dua for staying during a journey
English Arabic:
A’udzu bikalimatillahit-tammati min sharri ma khalaq
English Translation:
I seek refuge in the complete words of Allah from the evil of what He has created.
Arabic:
أَعُوْذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللّٰهِ التَّامَّاتِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ
Urdu Translation:
میں اللہ کے پورے کلمات کے ساتھ پناہ چاہتا ہوں اس کے شر سے جو اس نے پیدا کیا۔
4. Dua when putting on Ihram (احرام باندھتے وقت کی دعا)
English Arabic:
Allahumma Labbayka Umrah
English translation:
O Allah! I am here intending to perform Umrah.
Arabic:
اللَّهُمَّ لَبَّيْكَ عُمْرَةً
Urdu Translation:
اے اللہ! میں عمرہ کی (نیت کرتا) ہوں۔.
Explanation:
This intention is made both in the heart and with the tongue when putting on the Ihram. After this, the Talbiyah is recited.
5. Dua When Entering Masjid al-Haram
When entering the holy mosque, one should place the right foot inside first and recite this dua:
English Arabic:
Alllahumm aftah li ‘abwab rahmatik
English Translation:
O Allah, open for me the doors of Your mercy.
Arabic:
اللَّهُمَّ افْتَحْ لِي أَبْوَابَ رَحْمَتِكَ
Urdu Translation:
اے اللہ! میرے لیے اپنی رحمت کے دروازے کھول دے۔
6. Dua Before Talbiyah
احرام کی حالت میں تلبیہ شروع کرنے سے پہلے قبلہ رخ ہو کر کچھ دیر تک سبحان اللہ ، الحمد للہ ، اللہ اکبر پڑھتے رہنا صحیح بخاری کے مطابق رسول اللہ کی سنت ہے ۔ اس کے بعد تلبیہ پڑھیں ، با آواز بلند پڑھیں
7. Talbiyah (Labbayk)
English Arabic:
Labbayka Allahumma labbayka, labbayka la sharikka laka labbayka, inna al-hamd wa ni’ma laka wa al-mulka, la sharikka laka
English Translation:
I am here, O Allah! I am here. You have no partner. I am here. Indeed, all praise and blessings are for You, and the kingdom is Yours; You have no partner.
Arabic:
لَبَّيْكَ اللَّهُمَّ لَبَّيْكَ، لَبَّيْكَ لَا شَرِيكَ لَكَ لَبَّيْكَ، إِنَّ الْحَمْدَ وَالنِّعْمَةَ لَكَ وَالْمُلْكَ، لَا شَرِيكَ لَكَ
Urdu Translation:
میں حاضر ہوں، اے اللہ! میں حاضر ہوں، تیرا کوئی شریک نہیں، میں حاضر ہوں۔ بے شک تمام تعریفیں اور نعمتیں تیرے ہی لیے ہیں، اور بادشاہی بھی تیری ہی ہے، تیرا کوئی شریک نہیں۔
Explanation:
The Talbiyah is recited repeatedly from the time of entering Ihram until the end of Umrah, especially whenever a new stage begins.
8. The First Sight of the House (when looking at the Kaaba)
Recommended Dua (Non-specific)
English Arabic:
Allahumma zayd hudha al-bayt tashrifa wa ta’azima wa mahabata wa birah, wa wahda man sharafah wa azamah mimman hajj or a’ta’mrah tashrifa wa ta’azima wa mahabata wa birah
English Translation:
O Allah! Grant this House more honour, greatness, awe, and goodness, and grant honour, greatness, awe, and goodness to whoever honours and glorifies this House, whether he performs Hajj or Umrah.
Arabic:
اللّهُمَّ زِدْ هَذَا الْبَيْتَ تَشْرِيفًا وَتَعْظِيمًا وَمَهَابَةً وَبِرًّا، وَزِدْ مَنْ شَرَّفَهُ وَعَظَّمَهُ مِمَّنْ حَجَّهُ أَوْ اعْتَمَرَهُ تَشْرِيفًا وَتَكْرِيمًا وَتَعْظِيمًا وَبِرًّا
Urdu Translation:
اے اللہ! اس گھر کی عزت، عظمت، ہیبت اور برکت میں اضافہ فرما اور جو اس کی زیارت کریں ان کی عزت اور درجات کو بھی بلند فرما۔
Explanation:
When you first see the Kaaba, recite this supplication and ask Allah for your heart’s desires, as it is likely to be accepted.
9. Supplications During Tawaf (طواف کے دوران دعائیں)
If you forget a specific supplication, you can recite general remembrance and supplications in your language during each Tawaf circuit. Here are some famous supplications:
English Arabic:
Rabbana Atina Fi Al-Dunya Hasana Wa Al-Akhira Hasana Wa Qina Adhaaba Al-Nar
English Translation:
Oh, our Lord! Grant us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and save us from the torment of Hell.
Arabic:
رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ
Urdu Translation:
اے ہمارے رب! ہمیں دنیا میں بھلائی عطا فرما اور آخرت میں بھی بھلائی عطا فرما، اور ہمیں دوزخ کے عذاب سے بچا۔
Explanation:
This supplication can be recited at any time during Tawaf, especially between Rukn al-Yamani and Hajar al-Aswad.
10. Dua after two rak’ahs of prayer at Maqam Ibrahim
English Arabic:
Allahumma aj’aalni min al-tawwaabiin wa’aalni min al-muttaahirin.
English Translation:
O Allah! Make me among those who repent, and make me among those who purify themselves.
Arabic:
اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْنِي مِنْ التَّوَّابِينَ وَاجْعَلْنِي مِنَ الْمُتَطَهِّرِينَ
Urdu Translation:
اے اللہ! مجھے توبہ کرنے والوں میں شامل فرما، اور مجھے پاکیزہ رہنے والوں میں شامل فرما۔
11. Dua during the Sa’i of Safa and Marwah
English Arabic:
Innas-safaa wal-marwata min sha’aa’iril-laah
English Translation:
Indeed, Safa and Marwah are among the signs of Allah.
Arabic:
إِنَّ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةَ مِنْ شَعَائِرِ اللَّهِ
Urdu Translation:
بیشک صفا اور مروہ اللہ کی نشانیوں میں سے ہیں۔
Explanation:
It is Sunnah to recite this verse at the beginning of Sa’i. Then, during Sa’i, ask Allah for your needs and supplications.
12. Common supplication between Safa and Marwah
English Arabic:
Rabbi aghfir war ham innaka anta ul-A’za’ al-Akram
English Translation:
Oh, my Lord! Forgive and have mercy; indeed, you are the most honourable and most generous.
Arabic:
رَبِّ اغْفِرْ وَارْحَمْ إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ الْأَعَزُّ الْأَكْرَمُ
Urdu Translation:
اے میرے رب! معاف فرما اور رحم فرما، بے شک تو سب سے زیادہ عزت والا اور کرم کرنے والا ہے۔
13. Halq or Qasr (بال منڈوانے یا کٹوانے کے بعد)
English Arabic:
Allahumma aghfir li wa liman halaq ra’sah
English Translation:
O Allah! Forgive me and whoever has shaved his head.
Arabic:
اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَلِمَنْ حَلَقَ رَأْسَهُ
Urdu Translation:
اے اللہ! مجھے اور جس نے اپنے سر کے بال منڈوائے، اسے بخش دے۔
14. Dua for Acceptance of Umrah
After completing all the rites of Umrah, including Sa’i and shaving/cutting hair, it’s a good time to make a comprehensive dua.
English Arabic:
Allahumma taqabbal minna inna, verily You are the Hearing, the Knowing
English Translation:
O Allah! Accept our worship; indeed, You are the Hearing, the Knowing.
Arabic:
اللَّهُمَّ تَقَبَّلْ مِنَّا إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ
Urdu Translation:
اے اللہ! ہماری عبادت قبول فرما، بے شک تو سننے والا اور جاننے والا ہے۔
Some Important Instructions
- Recite the prayers with sincerity and attention.
